Tattooing (revised)

I have really taken to this technique of transferring images to look like tattoos/body art and have chosen to incorporate the design into my editorial shoot. Looking back at the cultures of tribes there is so much influence of tattooing, I notice that especially today here in our own country there is a lot more tattooing about. It is more common now throughout our culture and becoming more widely accepted. However, it is still strongly looked down on and can be seen as a type of rebellion to be different, individual and to go against traditional methods of appearance. This will be perfect to incorporate into my shoot 'rebel culture'.

Here are some inspiring images I have been looking at. I like the idea of that in-keeping with the idea of 'Broken Britain' I wanted to incorporate the idea of traditional tattooing. These 'old school' ideas of tattooing actually originated from American sailors and was fast taken up within our own country. I like that these particular images are still used on a day to day basis in tattooing. They are still heavily popular and people change the designs to make them their own by colour, style, position on the body, meaning etc. I really like that about tattoos. As inpersonal as they are they can become incredibly personal to you.
