We learnt how to make body modifications in the style of Scarification which is a technique used in tribes to either sketch, burn or scratch words or pictures into the skin.
I found this lesson quite difficult to watch the videos of the process they have to go through to recieve the body modifications but it was fascinating to learn and I found it slightly unbelievable the lengths they would go to, to prove their status or relationship within their tribes.
It made me think about whether or not I was that passionate about anything to endure such pain. Then I realised that even just for personal reasons I have tattoos and peircings and although I feel this still doesnt prove to be as painful as what they under go I can see why they would.
My scarification attempts
I used split peas along with liquis latex to create this look of body modification on alexias skin in our make up class. After sticking the peas to the skin with the liquis latex I attempted to colour match foundation to alexias arm and then painted with my supra colours after. I think I would have liked to have taken a bit more time on this project. I really like this technique. You have to be very patient but I think it is definitely worth the wait with the effect you get.
